Java 2 Database Programming For Dummies, November 30, 2001
Reviewer: A reader from Australia

This book has devoted two-third of the coverage to explain what is a database, types, conditional operator and so on. Readers would be benefit if they are not familiar with writing or understanding basic SQL statements. For those readers who are from SQL programming background, this book offers very little insight knowledge of how the Java interact with the database such as passing binding variables. Most regrettably, the majority of examples that author tries to demonstrate how the Java interact with the database are unrealistic such as creating, dropping table using static SQL statement wrapped in Java code.

This book saved my job, honestly!, November 16, 2001

I'm a Java programmer who almost got bounced because my Wall Street company was down sizing because of the poor economy. I was given 30 days to find another position in the firm. The only position open was that of a Java database programmer - and I didn't know how to anything about Java database programming. I bought this book. Two weeks later I was able to pass a technical interview and got the Java database programmer's job.

Just the facts - great way to learn, November 6, 2001
Reviewer: Jerry Kelly from Boston, MA USA

I'm a Java programmer, but I never needed to interface my programs with a relational database. Then they had cut backs in my company. I was slated to go but managed to get picked up by a group looking for a Java database programmer. All I had to do was quickly get up to speed with JDBC and database programming. I reviewed my books on the subject, but this seemed to be the best written book that is easy to understand. Furthermore, the author provides code for nearly every possible scenario you can imagine. This book really saved me from the unemployment line.

Covers all you need to get started, October 25, 2001
Reviewer: Larry Schwartz from New York, NY

I've been a Java programmer for a few years but only recently needed to interact with a database. Keogh's book taught me all I needed to get started and complete my project. Keogh covers all aspects of Java database programming in a way that makes it fun to learn. I highly recommend this book to any professional who needs to get a leg up on Java database programming.
